How It Works
Hazel 100 comes in two sizes and over 15 crop-specific formulations.
Once "applied" or tossed into the box or bin of the harvested crop, Hazel 100 immediately beings emitting a controlled, slow release of 1-MCP gas, which continuously blocks the emission and absorption of ethylene receptors on the surface of your produce.
Through the simple application of Hazel 100, crops stay fresh, maintain firmness, and retain color for +40% longer - all while remaining EPA residue exempt.
Smart MAP technology.
Breatheway customizes its crop-specific Temperature Switch membranes to match the permeability (or permeation rate) with the specific respiration rate of the produce. This alignment ensures that the packaging can adapt to changes in respiration rates, enhancing its ability to regulate the balance of natural gases absorbed and released through its barrier.
When carbon dioxide levels spike within produce packaging, Breatheway’s Temperature Switch Technology Membrane activates. Swiftly expelling excess CO2 through its permeable barrier and absorbing O2, Breatheway stabilizes the packaging atmosphere to optimal levels before decay can begin.
Delayed Aging Technology.
The palm-sized box sachet is specially formulated to treat individual boxes of produce. Requiring no additional training, equipment, or infrastructure, Hazel 100 is the simplest way to effectively treat your crop with 1-MCP. The Hazel 100 box sachet is specially formulated for each crop.
Designed specifically with apples in mind, the Hazel 100 bin sachet is a large packet that is formulated to treat full bins of fruit. Unlike other 1-MCP applications where product technicians, fogging devices, and sealed rooms are required, Hazel 100's formula is packaged within a dry, palm-sized packet that's engineered to treat individual bins or boxes of apples, by steadily releasing 1-MCP vapors. Just drop it in.
Want to extend the shelf life of your crop?
The active ingredient in Hazel 100 is 1-MCP, a widely used chemical compound that helps prevent early decay in various types of produce. 1-MCP works to inhibit the harmful natural hormone, ethylene, by binding to the fruit’s ethylene receptors and slows down aging. This process extends the produce’s freshness and shelf life.
