How It Works
1-MCP Powder
Hazel CA contains 1-MCP, which blocks ethylene receptors on the surface of your produce, to keep it fresh during storage.
Easy-to-use applicator
The application device passes air through the Hazel CA powder to release the 1-MCP throughout the storage room. No water required.

Use Hazel Datica to continuously monitor temperature, humidity, and ethylene levels.

Breatheway customizes its crop-specific Temperature Switch membranes to match the permeability (or permeation rate) with the specific respiration rate of the produce. This alignment ensures that the packaging can adapt to changes in respiration rates, enhancing its ability to regulate the balance of natural gases absorbed and released through its barrier.
When carbon dioxide levels spike within produce packaging, Breatheway’s Temperature Switch Technology Membrane activates. Swiftly expelling excess CO2 through its permeable barrier and absorbing O2, Breatheway stabilizes the packaging atmosphere to optimal levels before decay can begin.

Does Hazel CA require a technician to be on-site during application?
Hazel CA does not require a technician to be on-site. Hazel will provide both in-person and virtual training, as well as a robust library of resources to help guide you through device assembly and connecting your Datica unit. This allows your team to treat each room on your own time.
Can I use the same device to treat multiple rooms?
The same application device can be used in multiple rooms. The device must remain in the room for the entirety of the treatment (18 hours). Once the room is safe to reenter, the device can be removed and moved to a new room.
Do I purchase or lease the Hazel CA application device?
The Hazel CA application device is included in the price of our product. At the end of the season we will ship these devices back to our headquarters to do maintenance and quality checks.
Does Hazel CA leave a residue on the fruit?
Hazel CA does not leave residue on the fruit. 1-MCP in the atmosphere breaks down and after the treatment is concluded, the 1-MCP is not detectable.
Is Hazel CA an alternative to "fogging" treatments?
Hazel CA is Hazel’s 1-MCP controlled atmosphere room treatment, it differs from most fumigation treatments by using air to release 1-MCP gas rather than water.
